Meet the Team
Katie Tourand,
Founder & Chair
Katie Tourand is the founder and chair of My Digital Ladder. Her passion and commitment to the organization stem from wanting to give back all that has been given to her. Digital marketing opened doors she never thought possible from a career and leadership perspective. This spawned the idea to develop a condensed format program to underrepresented youth in the community. MDL is here to provide real-world digital marketing education in an accessible format to develop the next generation of leaders in the community and businesses.
Her story consists of self-inflicted obstacles, societal barriers, overcoming addiction, pursing an education, and a dogged pursuit for redemption. For Katie, the most efficient way for her to distance herself from who she was—to who she envisioned she would become—was education and experience.
Today, Katie hopes, in partnership with students, community members, and local businesses to establish a pathway where there may have been barriers before. She is honored and humbled to have the opportunity connect with, learn from and teach students.
Kris Somerville, Secretary
Kris Somerville is the Academy of Finance (AOF) Coordinator/Business Teacher at Como Park Senior High School. AOF is an award-winning program where students are earning college credit through high school business classes and being exposed to all the areas of business through site visits, mentors, presentations, and internships. She has been at Como since 2012. Connecting the Business world and her Como Cougars is something she really enjoys doing. She is all about helping students in their next step in life after high school.
Before Como, she worked a bit in a community college setting and other high schools in the Chicagoland area. Kris has been enjoying the Twin Cities since 2002. When she is not at work, she is busy with her family which includes three kids who are St. Paul Public School students and is always running around with a foster dog.
